When ripe, t...I find harvesting melons quite easy. When ripe, they fall off the stems :) Watermelons on the other hand, are hard to judge. Something about tendrils drying out...will have to look it up online. I&...All but one of my melons harvested themselves. I'd check them one day, and the stem would be firmly attached, then the next day they would be off the vine without any help from me. Luckily none split, but three small ones were too ripe and mushy and had to be composted. Oh, they are so very good and sweet!
