Harvest Monday - October 8, 2012

This is a day late, but will most likely be the last major harvest for this season.  I'm surprised that I had so much more harvest at this time of the year.  Since sprinklers were being winterized, I had no option but to pull off last of the tomatoes and other veggies that could be used.  I pulled off all of the carrots and eggplants as well.  Except Kale, Swiss chard, kohlrabi and brussel sprouts everything else is gone.  Garlic was planted last monday, over 150+ of them!!

Spinach

Kale

Beans

Mint

Lots of Tomatoes

Eggplants

2 more bittergourds hiding in the dried vines.

Last of the carrots and some beets

Thanks to Daphne for hosting Harvest Mondays!!

  1. Lots of tomatoes! How many did you plant this year? And your eggplant are lovely. Happy eating

    1. I had about 16 plants. They came in late for some reason, otherwise it would have been great!

  2. It's always a bit sad when you have no choice but to pull out the rest of the harvest before frost hits. I am still able to hold off for awhile, but suspect that I'll be pulling things out right and left at the end of the month.

150 garlic! I'll probably be able to do half that amount, but this year I really hope to be able to plant the pink Rose de Laurent from France.

    1. I always wish we'd have about 2-3 extra weeks to finish off before the first frost. Yup, 150+ garlic. I'm wondering if I planted them too close though.... well it's late now.

  3. Great harvest! Yah, my tomatoes were really late too. I read that it was because of the heat and drought we had this year.
