Harvest Monday - Sept 6th 2011

This blog is a day late for the Daphne's Harvest Monday Submission, due to the Labor Day weekend.  The past week has been wonderful for our garden harvests.  We have a couple firsts of the season - Rose Finn Fingerling potatoes were harvested, first okra was ready for picking, first harvest of Zestar Apples, the first ripe Sweet 'N Early Hybrid cantelope fell off its stem!!

Tomatoes are ripening almost daily :) Still picking beans and cukes.......We even had a couple nights where the temps dropped to 40s.  3 more blackberries were harvested and went right into our mouths :)

Fenugreek(methi) leaves

Tomatoes, okra, plums, cukes

Bush beans, red chillies

  4. Wow, that's a grand harvest, how proud you must be! To get such a big cantelope in the north is not easy and the apples look absolutely perfect, don't you think?

  5. Great harvest! I grew red finn potatoes last year but they turned out to be a complete bust! Yours look really good.

Regarding the opo question you asked on my blog last week, I got the seeds from our local Asian market. I'm sure you can find it online somewhere...like Johnny's?

  6. Thanks Sissy! Apples are organic, so that matters above appearance :) I was also surprised to see that the cantelopes grew so big, they're supposed to be personal size! Beginners luck, maybe?

Thomas - Thanks! I'm very pleased with potato harvest, being my first time with fingerlings!! I've never seen opo seeds in local asian markets, so far. I watch for next spring though.
